BHCT on the way to reducing carbon footprint

The last few years have been pivotal for the Baltic Hub in terms of setting corporate goals related to reducing our carbon footprint and planning activities that will enable us to become a net zero organization by 2050.It has also been a time of exploring potential growth paths that will enable us to realize our decarbonization ambitions.
We are particularly pleased with several achievements that have already contributed to reducing our carbon footprint. During this period, we were able to develop an energy transition plan to 2030, obtain a guarantee of origin for green electricity, implement electric and automated RTG yard cranes, and purchase our first electric passenger cars. We installed solar panels on the roof of the technical department building and started testing electric terminal tractors. By extending the rail siding from 4 to 7 tracks and extending it to 750 m, we increased the share of rail transport in container transport. We purchased RMG rail cranes and optimised the operation of the siding by introducing OCR (optical character recognition). We also started counting Scope 3 greenhouse gas emissions, as defined by the GHG protocol. We have succeeded in meeting the targets we set ourselves each year in the area of CO2 emissions reduction.

This is the beginning of the Baltic Hub's journey towards a green future. We are aware that this road will not be easy and the transformation will be costly, but we are optimistic about the future. We know that we are heading in the right direction.
