Baltic Hub has completed the application process of 4th edition of the Busole grant program and selected seven initiatives that will be implemented in the coming year in the districts neighboring the terminal: Stogi, Przeróbka, and Krakowiec-Górki Zachodnie. Their common goal is to support the local community in the areas of education, health, environment, and social bonding. The first projects will launch as early as December 2025, with a total grant budget of PLN 250,000.

Projects that drive change
The fourth edition of Busole once again demonstrated the strong potential of local partnerships. Between September 1 and October 1, 2025, Baltic Hub received 17 applications from schools and kindergartens, social organizations, and institutions operating in the vicinity of the terminal. The submitted projects mainly focused on education, community integration, physical activity, health, and environmental protection — areas that are Baltic Hub’s priorities within its social responsibility strategy.

Busole is a unique district grant aimed at supporting the terminal’s neighbors in the areas that matter most to them. This year’s submissions shared one common feature: a desire for thoughtful and lasting change for local residents. Each project carried great value and reflected deep community engagement. We would like to thank all applicants for their ideas, energy, and willingness to take action for their communitysaid Jan van Mossevelde, CEO of Baltic Hub.

The grants were awarded by a Jury composed of representatives of the City of Gdańsk, the Port of Gdańsk, and Baltic Hub. The laureates of this year’s Busole program are:

  • The Polish Association of Allotment Gardeners named after T. Kościuszko, which proposed nature and educational workshops for children, young people, and adults, promoting knowledge about the natural environment and raising environmental awareness, entitled “Environmental Education at the Young Gardener's Academy.” Up to 500 people will benefit from the classes.

  • The Przyjazne Pomorze Association, which, as part of the “Activities for the local community” initiative, will organize cultural activities for children and young people, ensuring the creative and sporting development of the residents of the Stogi district through dance and theater. The offer for adults includes Nordic Walking classes, which are designed not only to promote physical activity among older people, but also to improve their health and well-being. Approximately 170 people will take part in the classes.

  • School and Preschool Complex No. 11 in Gdańsk, which submitted the “Green Zone” project to the competition. Its aim is to create a green relaxation zone at the school to support relationships and the well-being of the school community: students, teachers, staff, and even parents visiting the facility. The new, comfortable, and aesthetically pleasing zone at the school will serve up to 300 people every day.

  • Yacht Club Gdańsk will implement a summer initiative entitled “Maritime education for young people and regatta training,” which includes sailing lessons and regatta training for children and young people from the districts of Stogi, Przeróbka, and Krakowiec-Górki Zachodnie. The aim of the project is to develop physical fitness, build perseverance and sports discipline, and increase awareness of water safety. Approximately 50 people will take part in the classes.

  • “The 21st Century Library – a center of culture, knowledge, and passion at Primary School No. 72” is a project submitted by the Friends of Primary School No. 72 Association in partnership with ZSP No. 3. It will be the first part of the school library's modernization, consisting of the creation of a modern educational space for students and the local community. The aim of the project is to create a modern, multifunctional educational and cultural center at the school that meets the needs of students, teachers, and the local community – a group of over 460 people.

  • The Ostoja Social Welfare Home, as part of the “The World is Ours” initiative, wants to use VR technology in therapy, education, and intergenerational integration. This will be the first initiative of its kind in the region, combining technology with care. In a specially adapted space in the home, regular classes will be held using VR goggles, which will enable, among other things, reminiscence therapy, breathing training, and relaxation. Approximately 250 people will benefit from the offer.

  • "Active Senior Women. Health, Strength, Balance" proposed by Małgorzata Murawska's Fit Lady studio, which includes free exercise classes for senior women, health education, and professional body composition analysis. The goal is to improve the health and physical fitness of women aged 60+. The estimated number of beneficiaries is at least 100 women.

The projects selected in the fourth edition of the Busole program will be implemented from December 2025 to the end of 2026. Their goal is to develop and activate the residents of the Stogi, Przeróbka, and Krakowiec-Górki Zachodnie districts and to build lasting relationships within the local community. Baltic Hub is consistently developing the Busole program as part of its long-term social responsibility strategy, building lasting relationships with local partners and strengthening social engagement in the immediate vicinity of the terminal.
