For many years, Baltic Hub has been actively involved in the local community, implementing activities as part of its CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) strategy. One of the most important elements of these activities is the “Busole” neighborhood grant, which supports originators and leaders of local change - individuals and institutions that want to make their neighborhoods more friendly, sustainable and supportive of social development.
Among the winning projects of this year's edition was a highly inspiring initiative titled. “SI - Island of Beginnings,” submitted by the School and Kindergarten Complex No. 4 in Gdansk.
A place of tranquility and balance
The project created a unique space - a room of tranquility, the idea of which is to provide students, teachers and parents with an opportunity to temporarily disconnect from the daily hustle and bustle, excessive stimuli and school pace. The room has been thoroughly renovated, prepared and adapted to become a friendly, safe and soothing place, accessible to all members of the school community.
The “SI - Island” is used by students in grades 1-8, who can recuperate there, catch their breath, calm their emotions and regain their balance. But this place is not just for children - it is also visited by teachers and parents, who participate in meetings that build relationships with the teaching staff and work together to create a positive school climate.
The idea of an "island"
The name of the project is not accidental. “SI - Island” symbolizes a space where you can separate yourself from noise and pressure, quiet your mind and body, find inner peace and take care of your well-being. It is a small island of peace in the ocean of school life - a place designed with care for the emotional and mental needs of the entire community.
