On Friday, 23 February, at School and Kindergarten Complex No. 3 in Gdansk, we officially opened a new teaching room, called the eco-room, which was created with the support of the Baltic Hub. Pupils will develop their knowledge of natural sciences there and participate in projects and initiatives promoting sustainable development and environmental protection.

The eco-workroom is one of the winning projects of the second edition of the „Busole” grant competition organised by the Baltic Hub. Thanks to the funding, one of the classrooms was thoroughly renovated, transforming it into a modern and functional eco-room. Specialised equipment was also purchased, including state-of-the-art teaching aids and equipment that will enable pupils to carry out experiments and observations related to natural sciences. Among the novelties was a professional Davis Vantage Pro2 weather station, which allows weather observations to be made and related issues to be educated. The project was designed by school teacher Maria Kubinowska. The author of the paintings on the walls of the eco-room is a local artist.

The official opening brought together representatives of the Baltic Hub, teachers involved in the project, members of the Parents' Council and representatives of the City Hall.

The eco-room is intended to serve not only the students of ZSP No. 3, but also the entire school community, promoting pro-ecological attitudes and encouraging learning about and respect for nature. The planned activities cover a wide range of topics: from learning about nature to practical activities related to recycling and waste segregation.

The goal of this initiative is to develop pro-environmental activities and attitudes among children, young people and local adults. We wanted to create a place where pro-ecological knowledge, so important in today's changing world, is promoted and positive and valuable social values are shapedsays Artur Jastrząb, Director of Primary School No. 72 in Gdańsk.

The first classes in the new green room took place on Monday, 26 February, and met with great interest on the part of pupils and teaching staff.
