The choice of the giraffe was not accidental. Both terminal employees and Tri-City residents compare STS cranes to these very animals. By adopting Aki, Baltic Hub wants to express its commitment to endangered species conservation and environmental education. The cooperation with the Gdansk Zoo is another step in the implementation of Baltic Hub's CSR strategy, which focuses on sustainability and social responsibility.
The idea of adopting Aki was born when the cranes that stand out in the urban landscape were compared specifically to giraffes. These associations became the impetus for a partnership with the Gdansk Zoological Garden.
In the culture of many communities, giraffes symbolize wisdom, strength and harmonious coexistence with nature. Their unique way of moving and cooperating with other species, such as zebras, antelopes and ostriches, remind us of the value of interaction and mutual support. The giraffe, the world's tallest land mammal, also has the biggest heart. Therefore, it has become a symbol of empathy and nonviolent communication. Nonviolent communication is a language based on respect, sincerity and understanding of the other's needs.
Just as giraffes live in harmony with their environment, Baltic Hub strives to build relationships based on mutual respect and cooperation with our partners, employees and the local community. For us, Aki's adoption becomes a symbol of this concern and commitment to creating a better world. Baltic Hub has been involved in environmental and community efforts for years. Our initiatives, such as the Busole District Grant, environmental and educational projects, are the cornerstone of our sustainability strategy. The adoption of Aki is another step in this direction, through which we want to show our concern for the future of the planet and its inhabitants.
Giraffes are listed as an endangered species by the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and included in the European Endangered Species Programme (EEP), and therefore require our special attention and care. By choosing to adopt Aki, Baltic Hub is making her a symbolic member of its community and a company mascot. We are proud to support the Gdansk’s Zoological Garden and thus contribute to the protection of endangered animal species.
We invite you to visit the Gdansk's ZOO and meet Aki in person!
