Baltic Hub at Baltic Ports for Climate Conference
2025-11-20

On November 20, Baltic Hub had the pleasure of participating in the Baltic Ports for Climate Conference – Gdynia 2025, a prestigious event that brings together representatives of ports, terminal operators, and experts from the Baltic Sea region. The conference was an opportunity to share experiences, present innovative solutions, and discuss practical ways to reduce emissions in the port sector.

Baltic Hub was represented by Dominika Milion, Sustainability Director, who emphasized the importance of implementing specific environmental measures in the daily operations of container terminals. During Session II: From Strategies to Action, Dominika gave a presentation entitled “Reducing emissions in container terminals,” in which she showed how Baltic Hub combines modern technologies with everyday operational practices to consistently pursue its sustainability goals.

The presentation discussed, among other things:

  • optimization of logistics processes at the terminal, allowing for reduced fuel consumption and CO₂ emissions,

  • investments in the electrification of port equipment

  • the use of modern monitoring and data analysis systems to control emissions and plan environmentally friendly activities,

  • the implementation of technologies supporting energy transition that combine operational efficiency with care for the environment.

After the presentation, Dominika took part in a panel discussion entitled “Emission reduction by ports and terminals – meeting the requirements: Is it only a cost factor or also an opportunity?”. In conversation with industry experts, the topic of challenges and opportunities related to the energy transition of ports was discussed. The discussion showed that reducing emissions is not just an operating cost – it is also an investment in the future that increases the competitiveness, innovation, and resilience of ports to changing regulations and customer expectations.

The key conclusion of the conference? Sustainable development is not just a regulatory obligation – it is a strategic direction that shapes the future of the port industry. Ports that actively implement innovations and environmentally friendly technologies not only reduce emissions, but also gain a competitive advantage and strengthen their resilience to future challenges.

We would like to thank the organizers for the inspiring exchange of experiences, valuable discussions, and the opportunity to share our practical solutions in the field of sustainable development. Baltic Hub remains committed to working towards cleaner ports and greener logistics in the Baltic Sea region.
