Second New MSC Ocean Service Handled at the T3 Berth
On April 21, 2025, Baltic Hub container terminal welcomed a vessel operated by Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC), which has included the Gdansk terminal in another of its ocean services. This was the first call of a vessel under Albatros, the second new MSC service calling at Baltic Hub, connecting the Far East with Europe.
MSC Maura, a vessel measuring 366 meters in length and with a capacity of 16,464 TEU, arrived in Gdańsk after sailing from Asia to Northern Europe, calling at the following ports: Xingang, Dalian, Gwangyang, Ningbo, Shanghai, Yantian, Singapore, Felixstowe, London Gateway, Bremerhaven, and Gdańsk.
The vessel was handled using state-of-the-art STS quay cranes located at the newly built T3 berth, which – although the entire T3 terminal is still in the final stages of construction – is already being used to test operations on vessels of the world’s leading shipping lines.
– “The launch of a second MSC ocean service at the T3 berth in Baltic Hub is a clear sign of the trust placed in us by key industry partners. The handling of MSC Maura at the newly built quay signals that we are rapidly approaching the completion of the T3 investment and the start of full operational capability of the terminal,” commented Jan Van Mossevelde, CEO of Baltic Hub.
T3 Terminal – A Key Element in Baltic Hub’s Development
The T3 terminal is a strategic infrastructure investment at Baltic Hub, now in its final stage of completion, aimed at increasing the terminal’s operational and handling capacity. The project includes the construction of a 717-metre-long quay with a technical depth of 17.5 metres, 36 hectares of stacking yards, and the installation of 7 additional modern STS quay cranes and 20 semi-automated RMG yard cranes.
Upon completion of the works, planned for the end of 2025, Baltic Hub will offer around 2.1 km of deepwater quay and over 124 hectares of operational space, increasing the annual handling capacity to 4.5 million TEU. This will make Baltic Hub one of the largest container terminal complexes in Europe.
