June/July - T3 status of works
2024-08-09

At the end of June this year, the first stage of construction works was completed, which was confirmed by the Engineer with the issuance of a Taking Over Certificate in view of the Contractor's achievement of Milestone "A". The scope of the aforementioned Milestone included the handover of half, i.e. about 150 meters in length, of four storage yards for containers, along with the accompanying infrastructure. This acceptance made it possible to move on to the next stage of the work, this time carried out by the Investor's supplier, in the form of delivery of parts of the C-ARMG cranes, along with their assembly. In addition, due to the timely acceptance of Milestone "A", an access road leading from the T1 terminal was provided, also used for the delivery of the cranes. Completion of the Milestone also included other infrastructure elements in the form of execution:

  • along the entire length of the handovered area, foundations including rail;

  • container plinth along with the of concrete pavement between;

  • as well as the pavement road between container yards with associated service roads.

At the end of July, the Investor's supplier began delivery of the first elements of the C-ARMG cranes, while at the beginning of August, deliveries will continue, and another assembly of previously delivered elements will be carried out. The next stage will be commissioning, as well as testing the commissioning process.

It should be mentioned that Contractor T3 is in the process of completing the construction work for the area described in Milestone "B", the main scope of which remains the handover of the full length of the container stacking yards, access to which was provided by Milestone "A", along with the provision of fully functional telecommunications and power infrastructure. The completion of this Milestone "B" will enable the commissioning and testing of 8 C-ARMG cranes.

The total advancement of construction works, as of the end of July this year, at the implementation of Project T3 is more than 60%. The capping beam of main quay has been fully completed, along with the rear crane beam along a section of 717 meters. These two elements constitute the foundation on which the Ship to Shote cranes will move in the future. The Contractor is installing the rails for the STS cranes, and the quay's mooring and fender equipment for container ships is being installed. Work on the foundation layers for the target pavement is being carried out. Completion of all the aforementioned elements is necessary so that as the end of 2024, the Investor's next supplier, responsible for the delivery and commissioning of the quay cranes, will be able to deliver them safely and on time, and subsequently put them into operation. Delivery of the cranes is planned by sea. It should be noted that they will be delivered fully assembled and then unloaded directly from the ship onto the T3 berth.

In parallel, the Contractor is completing another important hydrotechnical element, which is the south concrete capping beam. Work continues in the power substation buildings along with their equipment and commissioning. In June this year, the main substation buildings were supplied with electricity. On the other fronts, the Contractor is carrying out works related to, among other things: reinforced concrete works, paving and branch works: storm water drainage, water supply systems, electrical power and telecommunications systems. Installation of reefer steel platform structures to allow access and handling of refrigerated containers has begun.

In conclusion, it should be noted that the work carried out by the T3 Contractor is being carried out on all available fronts, during the full construction season, so as to make the achievement of further Milestones a reality in the coming months.
